Utah Conservation Corps (AmeriCorps) Member Opening
(Full-Time)

Utah Clean Energy is seeking a Utah Conservation Corps (AmeriCorps) member to assist with the coordination of the Community Energy Challenge. This innovative community engagement project is driving energy efficiency home improvements in the Salt Lake County area. The project empowers Utah families and communities to reduce energy waste, save money, and reduce their carbon footprint.

The Community Energy Challenge Coordinator will:

  • Foster participation in the Community Energy Challenge through community engagement activities
  • Assist with research activities relating to barriers and benefits of home energy improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate, attend, and/or present at planning and implementation meetings with community organizations and residents
  • Assist in overall project strategy development and execution
  • Track meeting outcomes, data, and contact information relating to the project
  • Coordinate and supervise a team of community volunteers
  • Assist Utah Clean Energy staff with program and grant reporting activities

The successful candidate:

  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Pays attention to details, sees projects through to completion and understands how to set priorities
  • Possesses a background and commitment to environmental and/or energy-related issues
  • Is comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and social media tools
  • Provides their own transportation or utilizes public transit
  • Works collaboratively with coworkers and community partners

The full-time position (approximately 40 hours/week) must fulfill 1,700 hours of service over a 12-month period. Utah Conservation Corps/AmeriCorps members receive the following benefits:

  • $12,100 annual living allowance
  • $5,550 AmeriCorps Education Award (upon completion of service)
  • Health insurance
  • Child care (for qualified applicants)
  • Pre-service orientation and in-service training
  • Utah State University graduate level environmental education courses (optional)
  • Utah Environmental Education Certification (optional)

Utah Conservation Corps (AmeriCorps) Member Opening
(Part-Time)

Utah Clean Energy is seeking a Utah Conservation Corps (AmeriCorps) member to assist with the coordination of the Wasatch Sunshot Project. The project is a federally funded collaboration between local governments, nonprofits, and the solar industry to create a “solar-friendly” business environment in Utah and help reduce the cost of solar-PV installations. The Wasatch SunShot Coordinator will:

  • Foster participation in the Wasatch SunShot Project through coordination with local government liaisons and other project partners
  • Assist with local research activities relating to solar-PV permitting, zoning, ordinances, financing
  • mechanisms, and best practices
  • Coordinate meeting and event logistics for the Wasatch SunShot project
  • Assist in overall project strategy development and execution
  • Track meeting outcomes, data, and contact information relating to the project
  • Assist Utah Clean Energy staff with program and grant reporting activities

The successful candidate:

  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Pays attention to details, sees projects through to completion and understands how to set priorities
  • Works well both independently and in teams
  • Is self-directed
  • Possesses a background and commitment to environmental and/or energy-related issues
  • Is comfortable using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Provides their own transportation or utilizes public transit
  • Works collaboratively with coworkers and community partners

The part-time position (approximately 20 hours/week) must fulfill 900 hours of service over a 10 to 12-month period. Utah Conservation Corps/AmeriCorps members receive the following benefits:

  • $6,406 annual living allowance
  • $2,775 AmeriCorps Education Award (upon completion of service)
  • Pre-service orientation and in-service training
  • Utah State University graduate level environmental education courses (optional)
  • Utah Environmental Education Certification (optional)
