Job Opening: Programs & Policy Associate - Buildings Sector

Description: Utah Clean Energy is seeking a full-time Programs & Policy Associate to work on energy efficiency and renewable energy issues in the building sector. This position focuses on outreach and education in the building industry, policy analysis and development, and developing partnerships between regional and local stakeholders. The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Develop strong stakeholder partnerships with Utah’s building industry
  • Develop educational materials and advocate for the adoption of state-of-the-art building energy codes at the state and local levels
  • Coordinate projects with Utah Clean Energy’s policy and regulatory efforts ( i.e. building codes, state incentives, DSM programs)
  • Coordinate with regional and national partners, including Southwest Energy Efficiency Project, U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, and local utilities
  • Advance Utah Clean Energy’s high performance building program by assisting with fundraising efforts and development of program strategy
  • Prepare case studies and undertake other activities to encourage construction of new homes/buildings that far surpass minimum energy code requirements
  • Provide technical support for demonstration projects and market transformation efforts.
  • Promote the development of workshops and trainings by local stakeholders on codes and high performance building issues
  • Conduct outreach to raise awareness and increase the adoption of energy efficiency measures in existing homes and commercial buildings in Utah

Qualifications: Applicants should have experience working on building issues for a consulting/research firm, nonprofit organization, government agency, or in the construction industry.  Preference for individuals with a Bachelors degree and at least five years of experience or a Masters degree and at least three years of experience. Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills, the ability to work independently, and a personal commitment to a cleaner environment and sustainable energy future.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work in a relaxed environment close to recreation opportunities in Utah.
