OVERVIEW
The Salt Lake Sustainable Building Conference Organizing Committee is now accepting proposals for educational sessions. The 2011 regional sustainable building conference will be held in Salt Lake City, May 2011; dates will be announced by the end of December.
TIMELINE FOR PROPOSALS
The Iron County Planning Commission has completed their review of the newly proposed Iron County wind ordinance and will be presenting the proposed final version to the Iron County Commissioners. The Utah State Energy Program, by directive of the Utah State Legislature in 2008, worked with multiple stakeholders and national experts to develop a Model Utah Wind Ordinance outlining nationally accepted ordinance measures.
The Renewable Energy industry survived 2009 intact with much promise and a clouded future. The economic stimulus package provided enormous support for the Renewable Energy community, but project development, investment and finance is still lagging. Congress did not pass a comprehensive Energy and Environmental legislative package, but continues to work toward wide-ranging national legislation in 2010 with significant implications for the industry.
