Micro-Hydro Power Workshop

The Micro-Hydro Power workshop will cover design considerations as they apply to both low and high head micro-hydro systems. The focus will be on core concepts that may be applied to a wide range of hydro applications. Participants perform preliminary system sizing for mechanical and electrical power generation of 50-watt to 100-kilowatt capacities. The course combines class lectures with site tours, guest speakers, and lab exercises and is taught by experienced installers.

In 2009, EPA announced that 1 million ENERGY STAR qualified homes have been built in the United States, a significant milestone since the program began offering the label for homes in 1995. More than 100,000 new homes were constructed to meet ENERGY STAR guidelines in 2009. This July, Governor Herbert, Mayor Becker and Mayor Corroon are challenging Utahns to “Drive Less and Drive Smarter.” The month long Clear the Air Challenge aims to reduce vehicle emissions by challenging residents to use TravelWise options like trip chaining, carpooling, vanpooling, telecommuting, bike commuting, and public transportation.
