The students and faculty at Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah have an exciting new addition to their school – a Skystream 3.7 wind turbine. The turbine will provide a portion of the school’s energy while incorporating renewable energy technology into the student’s curriculum. The 45 foot turbine is rated at 2.4 kilowatts and can produce between 50 – 850 kilowatt hours of energy per month depending on wind speeds.
The project was made possible by a funding award from Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky renewable energy program granted to the Utah State Office of Education. The project was lead by Utah Clean Energy and the Utah State Energy Program in partnership with Utah State Office of Education, Cyprus High School and Granite School District.
