Hunter Lovins, renowned author, and expert on the business case for sustainability, joined Utah Clean Energy, Zions Bank and Utah’s business and government leaders for an exclusive breakfast to discuss how Utah can increase profitability and drive innovation through implementing sustainability.
Lovins provided case studies and data to illustrate that the best route to rebuilding our economy, and assuring national security, is to embrace efficiency, innovation, renewables, carbon markets, and new technologies. Lovins (founder of Natural Capitalism Solutions) is co-author of Climate Capitalism, which argues that not only is this smart policy, it’s profitable too.

Following the presentation from Lovins, the event opened up for a Q&A and discussion on how these principals can be applied in Utah’s business environment, as well as what unique challenges Utah must overcome to achieve profitable sustainability.
In attendance was a diversity of Utah business, government and community decision-makers and innovators (approx. 30 attendees). Utah Clean Energy and Zions Bank hosted the event with support from the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy and Westminster College.
