01/10/12

In 2011, Utah Clean Energy was hard at work stopping energy waste, creating clean energy, and fostering healthier, more sustainable communities.

  • Thanks to Utah Clean Energy’s work on net metering (2007-2009) and renewable energy financing (2009-2010), the Salt Palace began construction of a 1.6 MW solar installation.

  • Solar energy is becoming more accessible to Utahns after the Public Service Commission orders a new Solar Workgroup to explore the expansion of Rocky Mountain Power’s Solar Rebate Program.

  • More consumers are demanding that their homes stop wasting energy after Utah Clean Energy coordinates with consumers and building experts to support energy code adoption in Utah.
  • The Avenues community (with approx. 1,000 households) will be saving energy and money in their homes through the Community Energy Challenge using cutting edge and innovative outreach techniques.

  • Utah Clean Energy celebrated 10 years of clean energy progress during our 10-year anniversary event.
  • Clean energy has unprecedented support from Utah’s business community with the launch of our new membership group, The Sustainers' Circle.
  • Utah’s energy decision-makers learned innovative sustainability outreach techniques in a two-day intensive workshop with world-renowned environmental psychologist, Dr. Doug McKenzie-Mohr.
  • Utah Clean Energy initiated Utah’s first Community Bulk-Purchase Solar program, designed to make going solar more simplified, affordable, and streamlined.
  • Utah’s biggest energy users participate in industry specific trainings to dramatically increase energy efficiency with the help of the Utah Industrial Energy Efficiency Program.
  • Hundreds of Utah’s builders and building code officials across the State received training on the most up-to-date building energy codes, ensuring that new homes and buildings are built energy smart from the start and officials enforce the current standards.
  • Utah Clean Energy brings in awards for clean energy projects, including the U.S. Department of Energy ‘Mountain Mover Award’ for the Solar Salt Lake Project, the Interstate Renewable Energy Council Special Recognition Award, and an ENERGY STAR Award for the UBEES partnership, which includes Utah Clean Energy.
