Wind energy is one of the fastest growing energy technologies in the world and is anticipated to provide at least 20% of the United States' electricity by 2030. Utah has enough quality wind resources to develop at least 2,000 Megawatts (MW) of wind energy; yet Utah is just starting to develop our untapped wind resources.
Utah Clean Energy conducts an exclusive Utah Wind Outreach Training Course offered to individuals committed to fostering wind power development in Utah through public outreach, community engagement, and advocacy. Participation is voluntary.
About the Course: Trainees must complete a full day course (9:30 am - 5 pm), which includes a visit to a local wind project. The course is a combination of experiential learning and presentations from wind energy experts, local industry professionals and members of the Utah Wind Power Campaign on the following topics:
Participants learn how to communicate effectively about wind energy, set up and carry-out presentations on wind energy, respond to Frequently Asked Questions and common misconceptions about wind, and engage and educate key leaders and public officials on wind energy.
Following completion of the training, participants conduct and track wind outreach in their community, county, and/or state legislative districts. Participants will become members of the Utah Wind Power Campaign to support ongoing statewide efforts to advance wind energy development in Utah. All participants will receive a Wind Outreach Champion Certification. Participation in this effort is voluntary and is a great way to serve your community, state, and country!
Utah Clean Energy and the Utah Wind Power Campaign are pleased to offer this training, generously sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy/National Renewable Energy Laboratory Wind Powering America Program and Patagonia.
The next training will be held in Enoch, Utah on October 24th. There are a few remaining spots available, click here to fill out the application to attend this training.
