Lessons Learned from Utah Fleets Leading the Shift to Electric

Every day across Utah, fleet vehicles deliver food, transport guests, support healthcare, and keep local economies moving. Those miles add up, and so do their emissions. Because these vehicles operate in neighborhoods and business districts, electrifying even a portion of local fleets can significantly cut emissions where people live, work, and recreate.

Through a partnership between Utah Clean Energy and Merge Electric Fleet Solutions, we’ve worked with multiple local fleet owners, gathering real‑world data to understand what electrification could look like for their operations. These efforts show that fleet electrification is not only impactful but increasingly achievable.

Turning Real‑World Data into Actionable Lessons

Electrification isn’t one‑size‑fits‑all. Fleet managers need to know how electric vehicles will perform under real operating conditions. Which is why our partners at Backroads Travel, Rico Brand, Intermountain Healthcare, and Ski Butlers all participated in a pilot study to track the routes, vehicle use, charging needs, and operating conditions of their fleets, helping them plan for a successful transition to electric vehicles. c.

Explore the case studies to see what local fleets are learning and how those lessons can help your fleet take the next step toward cleaner air. Building on this real‑world data, we also developed a comprehensive Fleet Electrification Roadmap, a practical, step‑by‑step guide designed to help fleets navigate the transition to electric vehicles.

Explore the case studies to see what local fleets are learning and how those lessons can help your fleet take the next step toward cleaner air.

The roadmap translates pilot findings into clear actions, helping fleet owners understand vehicle suitability, charging infrastructure needs, operational impacts, and implementation timelines. Whether a fleet is just beginning to explore electrification or preparing for deployment, this roadmap provides a clear path forward to move from planning to plug‑in with confidence. NOTICE: WE ARE NOT A SOLAR COMPANY

We would like to clarify that Utah Clean Energy is not a solar company. We are a nonprofit organization that advocates for solar and other clean energy technologies, but we do not install or sell solar in any way.

Utah Clean Energy Association is not affiliated with our work. This is a sales group that despite our best efforts to get them to stop, continues to use our name in their advertising. We encourage you to report them to Google Ads as misleading. The company that reached out to you is likely a solar company that purchased your contact information as a lead. You may consider reporting that company to the Better Business Bureau for using misleading sales tactics also.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.

Thank you,

The Utah Clean Energy team
