Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties, in partnership with Utah Clean Energy, are taking affordable housing in Utah to the next level with the Silver Creek Village townhome project. This 10-unit townhome development has been constructed to ENERGY STAR NextGen standards, meaning that these townhomes are not only affordable, but they are also highly energy-efficient, healthy, and comfortable. The Silver Creek Village townhomes will be featured in the upcoming Park City Area Showcase of Homes to demonstrate that innovative, energy-efficient, affordable housing is available today.
Keeping Homes Affordable to Live In, Year After Year
Not only are these townhomes affordable to buy, but they also contribute to a clean, healthy environment with the added benefit of lower utility bills for the families who will live here.
These homes were constructed to ENERGY STAR NextGen standards, so they are highly energy-efficient and all-electric. This means the homes have improved comfort, high-quality construction, reduced utility bills, and improved indoor air quality compared to homes built to Utah’s code. This will save residents money and reduce pollution:
- Financial Savings: Compared to standard construction, residents in each townhome unit will save an average of $1,920 annually on their utility bills.
- Emission Savings: Collectively, this 10-unit townhome development will avoid emitting 175,616 lbs of CO2 in 2027—the equivalent to not driving nearly 203,000 miles in a gasoline-powered passenger vehicle.
All-Electric Construction
These townhomes feature all-electric construction, including electric cooking, ENERGY STAR certified appliances, an air source heat pump for heating and cooling, and a heat pump water heater. The home is also solar-ready and electric vehicle ready, which will reduce the cost to owners of installing rooftop solar and driving an electric vehicle.
Ownership and Community
Like other Habitat homes, these townhomes will be sold (not rented) to income-qualified families, thereby supporting stability, pride of ownership, and long-term investment in the community.
Making Energy Efficient Construction a Standard Practice
One of the Silver Creek Village townhomes will be featured in the upcoming Park City Area Showcase of Homes, hosted from August 28-30 and September 4-7. This event attracts hundreds of Utahns and construction industry professionals, and we look forward to showcasing this example of affordable, energy-efficient, community-centered homes.

The project is supported by grants from the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity’s Air and Water Innovation Grant and UCAIR, aligning closely with Utah’s affordable housing and air quality goals.
