March 18, 2026 – As Utah Clean Energy marks its 25th anniversary as the state’s leading clean energy and climate organization, the Board of Directors is proud to announce Sara Baldwin as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer. The announcement follows an extensive search to find a visionary leader to guide Utah Clean Energy into its next 25 years of innovation, impact, and transformative climate solutions.
“As we look ahead to the next 25 years, it was essential that we found a leader with both the deep expertise and the visionary spirit to lead this organization. Sara Baldwin is an exceptional fit for this role,” states Utah Clean Energy’s founder and departing CEO, Sarah Wright.
The announcement of Baldwin as the incoming CEO is a full-circle moment, as she began her career with Utah Clean Energy before going on to shape clean energy policy on the national stage.
Founded in 2001, Utah Clean Energy has become the state’s foremost expert on climate, clean energy, and air quality solutions. Known for their technical expertise and collaborative approach, the organization has successfully accelerated the growth of renewable energy, advanced zero-energy building, and forged bipartisan partnerships around climate action. The announcement of a new CEO ushers in the next chapter for the organization.
A Nationally Recognized Clean Energy Leader
Baldwin brings more than two decades of experience advancing pragmatic, equitable, and forward-looking clean energy policies nationwide. She is a published researcher, seasoned regulatory expert, and widely respected thought leader on the transition to renewable energy, and the electrification of our homes, buildings, and industries.
“I am thrilled to return to Utah Clean Energy at such a pivotal moment,” said Sara Baldwin, incoming CEO. “For 25 years, this organization has shown that bold ideas and innovative solutions can reshape a state’s energy future. As we look ahead to the next 25 years, we have the opportunity, and the responsibility, to strengthen Utah’s clean energy leadership and ensure that every community benefits from a resilient, prosperous, pollution-free future.”
Her career has included testimony before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the Utah Legislature, and extensive engagement with state public service commissions across the country. Baldwin has collaborated with utilities, policymakers, research institutions, nonprofits, and community leaders to drive transformative clean energy solutions.
A Milestone Moment for Utah’s Energy Future
When Utah Clean Energy began, wind and solar farms in the state were nonexistent, next to zero homes had solar, and talking about climate change in the halls of Utah’s state capitol was a nonstarter. Fast forward to today, and Utah Clean Energy has transformed Utah’s energy landscape. Utah now has enough renewable energy to power over one million homes, zero-emission homes and buildings are sprouting up across the state, and Utah leaders from across party lines are discussing the risks and solutions of climate change.
“Utah Clean Energy has never shied away from big challenges,” states Wright. “Utah Clean Energy’s next chapter, under Sara Baldwin’s leadership, will drive clean energy solutions at the scale and pace this moment demands. Sara’s tenacity, passion, and expertise make her an extraordinary leader—someone who brings clarity, drive, and thoughtful problem-solving when it matters most.”
